My interpretation of the woman who angered Athena by boasting of being superior at weaving. Blinded by pride, Arachne challenged the goddess to a weaving competition. When Athena was certain to prove better at the loom, Arachne was so shamed that she tied a rope around her neck and attempted to hang herself. "Hang yourself all you like,' said Athena, "you will never die from it, nor will your children, nor the children of your children. You will suffer for your insolent folly all your life." At that Arachne was transformed into a spider, destined to spin her gossamer threads for the rest of her days.
A slightly different version of the story goes that arachni was the better wever and Athena was so mad at this she shoved her work into Arachni's mouth and the single thread that stuck out of her mouth became the spider silk, and Arachni shrank into a spider. Bute the pic is still cool!
I love this story, and this picture is amazing! I love all of the textures, and the sad look on her face is heartbreaking, she looks like she needs a really good hug And I love the way you've drawn her fingers, and the spiders crawling on her. Very creepy, and very sad, and very perfect for the story!

Transcendentalism is just adultery with nature.
